Motivational Monday

I grew up in a household where we were told to finish our plates because "there are children starving elsewhere."

My mother COMPLETELY meant well, but, as my brother started to point out with age, me finishing my plate, had NO impact on the starving children.

It seems like this mentality has seeped into other areas of life. Other people would LOVE to live in a safe city, or have that job, or be in a non-violent relationship; so what does it say about me if I give this up for something better? If someone else would want what I have, I should not give it up or throw it away.

And so we live....content. We settle for what we have because we know we have good circumstances, but we do not feel joy. We accept it as it is and rarely, do we even look at it as one vs the other: Oh, I feel content, so that means I do not feel joy.

If I asked you if a life full of feeling content was enough, what would you say? If I asked you if a life full of feeling content instead of joy was enough, what would you say?
